Tacos…everyone loves them, and from place to place, the flavors can be similar yet different. Sometimes you may want a generic chain taco place but…Brookside/Waldo residents love to support LOCAL so today I’m telling you about the latest taco option in our neighborhood.
Usually when I blog about a new business, I make an appointment to talk with the owner/manager and find out more about how the place got started, popular menu items, specials, etc. When I stopped by Taco Cacao, whoever was working behind the glass that day was very friendly but not the manager/owner. He gave me a name and number to call; unfortunately I didn’t get a callback. So –telling you just the basics here!
Taco Cacao is located at 7927 Wornall–that’s the east side of Wornall, just south of 79th Terrace. It’s a tight corner spot–easier to park on 79th Terrace and walk to the truck. You’ll find all the usual menu offerings here: chicken, pork, beef tacos and burritos, plus a vegetarian option; sides of guac, rice, beans. You can also order a “family pack” and 16oz tubs of salsa. Drink options include Coke, Sprite and Jarrito Mexican soda.
I am not a food critic but since it was 3pm when I stopped by and needed a mid afternoon snack, I ordered a couple of black bean tacos to go. When I got home (about a five minute drive) and opened up the to go carton–I was happy to find the food wrapped in foil inside the styrofoam carton, still piping hot; the guacamole topped tacos tasted fresh and home made. (Their tagline is Leaving You With A Homemade Taste!) There is a storefront just behind the truck with the Taco Cacao logo on the front–wondering if that is where the food is prepped? Again, I don’t know as I wasn’t able to speak with the management.
The next time you are craving hot, inexpensive tacos or burritos, stop by Taco Cacao. Hours are Monday through Saturday, 11am-3pm and 5pm-8pm; Sundays 11am-3pm. Online ordering available. Welcome to Waldo, Taco Cacao!
